Developments in Texas

News from Church Planting efforts in Texas!

Over the past six months God has been opening up new windows of opportunity for church planting in Texas. This includes continued work in Bryan, TX and new developments in North Dallas.

The Living Way RP Mission Church of Bryan/College Station, TX has entered into a new phase of work. On April 14th weekly morning worship services began. Chaplain Jonathan Leach, Colonel in the Army Reserves, will serve in Bryan for the next six months, providing preaching and on-site leadership for the group. This will take place in a leased facility fully renovated for just this purpose. For Dallas, please pray for:

• Seed families and individuals to commit to the work

• Conversions through the preaching of God’s Word

• Sufficient finances to fund the work

• The Bryan Commission and Rev. Jonathan Leach as they take responsibility for weekly preaching

Dallas – A group of five families has petitioned the Midwest Presbytery to start a new congregation in Dallas. These families have come to know and love the Lord and the RP church from a variety of avenues. One providential aspect to this opportunity is that one of the families is that of Mark Koller, a new pastor in the Midwest Presbytery. Rev. Mark Koller joined the RPCNA at the fall 2012 meeting of Presbytery. He came to us having been convinced of the distinctive principles of the Reformed Presbyterian Church and wanting to minister according to those convictions. He and his family live just outside Dallas, TX. Most recently, Mark had served in Texas working to plant a church while also holding down a full time job in a medical laboratory. When he joined the RPCNA, Mark moved his membership to the Stillwater, OK congregation and has enjoyed time of fellowship and mentorship with them.

Given this open door for ministry in Dallas, the Presbytery has pressed ahead to explore whether the Lord would have us establish a church in the north Dallas area. One important recent development is the beginning of weekly, morning worship services on May 5th. For more information, visit http://dallasrpf.org/

For Dallas, please pray for:

• Seed families and individuals to commit to the work

• Conversions through the preaching of God’s Word

• Sufficient finances to fund the work

Church Planters Course to be Offered at RPTS

Foundations of Church Planting Home Mission Board Seminar April 27 and 28, 2012

Foundations of Church Planting is a seminar presented by the Home Mission Board. The goal is to consider the unique challenges of church planting in the context of the RPCNA and to provide basic training for those interested in the work of church planting. The conference has in mind especially those preparing for ministry in a church plant or those currently ministering in a new work, but it will be open to any who wish to attend.

The seminar will be led by three different pastors who, by God’s grace, have practical experience in the field of church planting. Dave Long pastors the Lafayette, IN RPC which has overseen the daughtering of two congregations. Harry Metzger planted the Westminster RPC near Chicago and now pastors North Hills RPC which daughtered Grace RPC in Gibsonia, PA. Bruce Parnell planted the Stillwater, OK RPC which in turn has daughtered the Enid, OK congregation.

The seminar will cover a selection of foundational subjects from the conviction and perspective of Reformed theology and distinctives of the RPCNA. For a list of the topics, see our Facebook page.

The seminar will be hosted by the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA. Supper will be provided Friday evening along with lunch on Saturday between the morning and afternoon sessions. The cost of the meals is built into your conference registration ($25).

Pastor needed in Aurora Ohio

This congregation was established in December of 2009 and God has raised up a wonderful group of ruling elders to help shepherd the flock. Now they are praying that God would raise up a pastor. Please uphold this congregation in prayer and pray for the recently appointed committee tasked by Presbytery to help this congregation in the process of seeking a pastor.
